Home Sweet Home

I am settled in enough to enjoy my first Thanksgiving in my new home. I still have more work to do unpacking but the kitchen, living room and bathrooms are done. The bedroom needs a few additions to add some color and interest but it is capable of being used for it's purpose as is. The only remaining rooms left to do are my art room and hubby's office. Those will wait until I have rested some. My joints are protesting and I'm wise enough to know when to ignore and when to rest.

Tomorrow I will be spending the day in the recliner with my feet up watching the snow fall and whatever movies I find interesting. With all the work I've done, I earned it.

I was fortunate enough to be outside taking pictures of my home when the cows were leaving the barn after milking. It's an interesting process to watch since it occurs for the most part in single file with the occasional pair that look like a couple of friends sharing a walk together. Life is beautiful when you look around you with peace in your heart and joy in your eyes..

    1. I think so myself. LOL

We don't have the woodstove installed yet, but without any debt, the fuel for the furnace should be no problem on our income. My 2016 taxes were less than $850, I'm assuming they'll go up with the newer home on the lot, but that's a big difference over what I was paying for a small lot for the other home we were living in.

  2. I love your new place ! I live in town now, but grew up and spent most of my adult years living in the country. I miss the peacefulness of country life. You are really blessed. I still really love that kitchen too. It will be a pleasure to cook your holiday dinners in I am sure.

    1. The only issue I had with this kitchen happened when I had to find a place for my really large stock pots, the bigger fry pans and my stainless steel mixing bowl set. I had to put stock pots and mixing bowls under the sink because it's the only 2 door cabinet here that was wide enough. Fry pans went in the drawer under the stove. Cleaning supplies normally kept under the sink went into the utility cabinet above the washer/dryer in the utility room.

The counter tops are wide enough that even with the appliances, there's room to work. I can use the right side all the way around to the fridge and the area just before the sink on the left. And everything I use is right there. Pots and pans on both sides of the stove, baking pans in the drawers. No matter where I am or what I'm ding, everything is in reach. I love it!

    1. With my luck I'd be hitting my head on the things that are hanging from those hooks. LOL
