Life Is Like A Song And Someone Needs To Change The Channel.

We bought land. The septic system is there, the well, the electricity and the mobile home on it is a junk. So, we need to find a newer one without going 40K into debt on a new one, put in a concrete pad with tie downs to put one on and move in. We also will have to tear down the existing one plus the one I'm living in now unless someone offers me money for it which I doubt. It's old and not quite a junk but getting there. How old is it? Let me put it this way. In 1993 my furnace serviceman exclaimed that the furnace was old enough to go out drinking in NYS where the age is 21.

I want a new one with more rooms in it so I have space to hide my husband's business mess. I have found 2 mobiles that I wouldn't mind having. Unfortunately we couldn't meet the sellers price on the first one and it appears we won't get the second one either. We know how much we have saved and we don't want to borrow if we don't have to. If we do have to borrow I want a small enough loan that I can pay off in 2 or 3 years.

I was looking at the calendar and noting that next Tuesday the 26th I will have been an online blogger for a decade. It seems to me that I should feel more of a sense of accomplishment than I do. Maybe it's because I've spent 20% of that time blogging in a day care center for cranky old adults. Some people call it an asylum but the truly insane only comprise maybe 10% of the population there so I'm not quite sure asylum is the word, however some of those bloggers there are strange.

It's almost like they're characters out of a Pink Floyd song. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" or maybe "Wish You Were Here". I'm pretty sure some of them are "Comfortably Numb". Between the paranoid and the Bipolar there are a few peaceful bloggers that make the stay worthwhile. And too, people actually comment on our blogs although there are some I wish wouldn't.

Sometimes I really wish I'd never started blogging. Other times I'm glad I did because I've had exposure to people I would have never met otherwise including those I suspect might just be crazy. It's all good, even when it's bad, it's good.

  1. I hope you find the right place soon so you can get moved and settled in. I've been blogging for about 10 years also and all but one place has been good for me. I have regular readers here on Blogger now so I get comments, but it took about three years to get the first comment haha!! It did help when I linked my blog with G+ and met new people who were actually active on blogs or posting on G+ itself.

As for the asylum, it's not for the weak, but I do agree there were some really good people there. The patients themselves made it kind of rough to stick around though (for me). I do miss you and a few others, but doubt I would ever go back there.

    1. The latest mess involves a DMCA notice that was filed and the powers that be closed the blog of the supposedly guilty party instead of taking down the offending material. The notice was filed on a false claim of a copyrighted graphic that wouldnt have been in the post if a comment hadn't been copy/pasted into the post to make fun of the originator. The filer of the DMCA changed her avatar to the copyrighted one, which then changed it in the post. That was an intentional move since she changed her avatar again as soon as the blog was closed.

The filer of the DMCA notice fails to understand she committed perjury but she did have her account closed and she has left.

I don't recommend that place to anyone unless they have a really big ignore button.

  2. Sherry,
I wondered where you had gotten to. I've been a lot more miss than hit blogging of late. Sometimes I almost forget I have a blog or two. I did finally return to Faceplant - er, Facebook, though I try to keep contact there to a minimum. And I've been more active with my new incarnation on Twitter. All of that said, I do NOT miss Blogster even a little. So I pop in here on occasion, start and delete a post or two, and go on.

    1. I had to give up and join Faceborked due to family matters. I don't mess in there much. I have reconnected with a handful of Blogstream users there but mostly follow family and offline friends.

When it comes to Blogster it's shocking to me that the average age of users would fall somewhere between your age and mine and they behave like that?

  3. Good luck on your search. I know it is hectic, but must also be an exciting time contemplating a move.

    1. Being in my golden years (lol) I don't want a mortgage and we haven't enough saved to build a house. A decent mobile home will work fine if we can find one that fits our budget without borrowing too much money. It's not easy because the parks are buying the mobiles, fixing them up and then asking for a downpayment and then adding a monthly mortgage payment to the lot rent. They're grabbing the newer ones before we can find out they're for sale.
