Bad news first. Doctor says my spondylitis is spreading. I could have told her that. It arrived in my ankle last week. Either that or someone grabbed a railroad spike from somewhere and sledgehammered it into my left ankle. I'm rooting for the latter since that would be a one time deal. However, I'm pretty sure it's the former which means that walking is going to get a whole lot more painful. I told the doctor I was stubborn, she felt that word has negative connotations and prefers the word sturdy. Ok, I'll accept it, either way I'm not giving up.
Good news is that my blood pressure has finally come down to normal and my weight loss plateau has developed a tilt. Only 25 or thereabouts more pounds to go. Funny, I was listening to a commercial that stated that WOMEN over 40 had to work out at the gym for 1 hour a day just to maintain their existing weight. Hell, I'm 22 years past that and haven't been inside a gym since school. I'm losing and all I'm doing is eating whole foods rather than the processed junk I've eaten for years. Red Beans and Rice for supper with a nice big salad. Not out of a box made by Zatarians either.
I don't know what that is that you have, but I bet it won't keep you down..I ate only 45 carbs a day for about 2 years because I am stupid..but I sure did lose weight..good luck..it aint' easy..I'm back to doing it too.
ReplyDeleteI have a form of rheumatoid arthritis that affects the spine, hips, knees, etc. It's called, for some weird reason, Ankylosing Spondylitis. Motley Crue's Mick Mars is a fellow sufferer. It's painful and if I don't stay as active as I can it will cause some pretty serious problems.

ReplyDelete"They" didn't and you know it! Where I come from that's called D-E-N-I-A-L. That ain't a river in BFE, either.:)
We're gittin' old, hon....(:
Hah! Just call me Queen of Denial. And now I want to hear Pam Tillis sing it. LOL
DeleteSherry,
ReplyDeleteEver notice how as we get older we discover aches and pains in places we didn't even know we had? I'm getting to the point now that when I wake up mornings, if a joint doesn't ache, I check to be sure I didn't suffer an amputation in my sleep.
Yup, there seems to be no bounding out of bed in the morning like I used to. Now it's sort of a sit there for a bit, and then s-l-o-w-l-y reach for the wall to make sure I can grab onto something in case I fall down. Takes a bit for those bendy parts to do their thing these days.
DeleteMy wife and I joined Weight Watchers last January and attended for three months. I lost twenty-five pounds and my wife lost fifteen. The good news is that once you understand the diet you don't need Weight Watchers - you can just continue on your own: All foods have a point value and you can eat anything you want as long as you stay within your daily points goal. All fresh veggies and most fruits are free points. The secret is to keep an accurate daily log of what you are eating (points.) It has been a year - my wife still keeps a log for us - and we haven't gained back the weight - and we are eating healthier. I recommend the hell out of this program; I don't consider it a diet any more just an eating plan.

It's a matter of replacing all those lovely fattening foods with good healthy stuff like fruits and veggies. Oh yeah, AND not spending hours sitting on my arse in front of TV or computer. *sigh*
