Originally recorded by a trumpet player, Hugh Masekela in the early 1960's, Grazin In The Grass became a hit for the Friends of Distinction when a member of the group wrote lyrics to Hugh's recording. A light hearted piece of pop fluff that just fits the over all mood of my day. For a Monday, and a busy one at that, it just floated along with a relaxed and happy attitude. Can you dig it?
yeah, I can dig it! thanks Sherry. I just listened to that yesterday. Ice and I were having a conversation about this very song!
ReplyDeleteEarlier on Saturday I was in Sir Scratchalot's chat. I was listening to Sirius XM 60's on 6 channel and the Hugh version came on. I said I was hearing the original Grazin and he supplied Friends. I told him no and like ice he thought Friends was the original version. I wasn't sure so I didn't argue, but he was wrong. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those fluffy tunes that just makes you smile.
I THINK I must have heard the original of this because I remember it. Diggin it....
ReplyDeleteHugh Masekela's version without lyrics, is mostly trumpet and some creative use of very loud cowbell. There's a lot of instrumental versions out there and they ALL are diggable. LOL
